Mary Nelson has been with the Virginia Film Office since 1994 working as the location manager and, most recently, as the communications manager.  Mary is actively involved with numerous industry and community organizations including the Virginia Film Festival, Women in Film and Video, the Virginia Production Alliance, and the China-America Festival of Film and Culture.  She has been the facilitator of Film Commission Fundamentals for the AFCI since 1997 and has led the program in the United States, Scotland, Great Britain, France and Australia.  Before coming to the Film Office, she worked as a company manager and public relations director for performing arts organizations and university theatre departments in Milwaukee, Denver, San Diego, Tucson and Richmond and taught arts management at the University of California - San Diego and the University of Arizona.
