Candid Conversations with

During our first conversation at Cineposium 08 in Wellington, we began building new relationships with the production community regarding the role of the film commission in the financial process and the role of the production company in the support of film commissions and the expansion of incentive programs.  Today, film commissions around the world invest hundreds of millions of dollars in production through production incentives, grants, film funds, and co-production:  an essential piece of the financial puzzle.

This session will continue the exploration of creating strong relationships to serve both community and production. Just as producers today need the financial support of film commissions, commissioners need their testimonial support, and more.  As commissions defend their incentive programs amid compromising economic realities at home, how do commission and production work together as allies?  Hear from studio executives about how film commissions can best use their skills to collaborate with studios, production companies, and producers to build positive business models of mutual benefit.

After attending this session, you will:

  • Identify the nature of the relationships, and with whom, that must be created at the studio and on location to create the greatest possible impact for everyone.
  • Discuss with production representatives the value of their support to the continuation of the financial investment in their productions from film commissions.
  • Investigate what studios and production personnel need from film commissions to be successful.
