AFCI Board of Directors Call For Nominations

Dear Members,

It is my pleasure to announce the call for nominations for the 2012 AFCI Board of Directors. This is your chance to be a part of the exciting changes and growth of your organization. All employees of Film Commissions in good standing are encouraged to apply.

Those who choose to be considered for an elected leadership role with the AFCI will be working on behalf of the Association on projects and initiatives that benefit the membership. These include our education and certification programs, our popular conference Cineposium, and our premiere marketing event, AFCI Location. Board members work with committees to develop stronger membership benefits and exciting marketing opportunities. There has never been a more important or exciting time to be part of the AFCI as we work to expand and enhance all of our initiatives and member benefits!

Board service is extremely important. As a board member, you will be expected to participate in four board meetings each year (one of which may be conducted electronically) and to either lead or work on committees and task forces that meet via conference call throughout the year.

We know that many of our member commissions are facing challenges to their time and financial resources and we do as much as we can to support our elected leaders. AFCI offers the following assistance:

US $1,000 in travel support when required.
Two of the four yearling meetings are scheduled in conjunction with Cineposium and Locations Trade Show to lessen additional travel expenses.
AFCI covers the cost of hotel accommodation and most meals while attending meetings.
Most other responsibilities of board membership are managed through email, conference calls, or other digital technologies.

On behalf of the AFCI, I’d like to acknowledge past and current board members and thank them for their dedication and service. I’d also like to acknowledge all who choose to run for the Board this year and thank everyone who participates in the election process. Best of luck to all the nominees!

In addition to board service, there are many other ways to support AFCI programs through volunteering and participation. If you are interested in more information about volunteer opportunities, please contact our Membership Director Kevin Clark at kevin@afci.org or 1-323-461-2324, ext. 102.

Sincerely,

Mary Nelson
AFCI President
