The White Sands International Film Festival 2008 is bringing audiences and filmmakers together to better enjoy the art of filmmaking. The Festival is offering filmmakers the opportunity to learn, grow and exhibit their films. The festival is also offering attendees quality films expanding their knowledge of cinema and enhancing their appreciation of the filmmaking process. Film professionals and the interested public have the opportunity to gain industry knowledge through workshops and seminars and interaction within a festival environment. The Festival also offers all attendees the opportunity to visit the beautiful country, facilities and pursuits that Alamogordo and Southern New Mexico has to offer. Support and extensive collaboration with OTERO County and The Alamogordo Chamber of Commerce reaches out to the entire area with numerous opportunities for exploration and immersion into this beautiful land.
The White Sands International Film Festival (WSFF 2008) has been established this year and represents an elevated and exciting world class event model transformed and reshaped from the prior White Sands Film Festival which saw its last event in 2007. This new and international event promotes many film genres focusing especially on short narrative films and documentaries from around the world. It promotes extensive ties both internationally and actively with associated cities in Mexico. These ties are seen as the first generation in the film festival industry in supporting and promoting the film world in Mexico; never seen before in the history of the Film Festival business.
Best of all, The White Sands International Film Festival takes you into the world of Southern New Mexico's enchanted landscape and endless pursuits. Tours to Mexico at our affiliated locations in Ciudad Juarez, Nogales, Sonora and Guaymas, Sonora. Perhaps, one of the most unique elements of the Festival comes from its geographic location and cultural-heritage linkages. The proximity of Alamogordo and Otero County to Mexico's border establishes one of its important aims: the encouragement of an artistic exchange between filmmakers from the United States and Mexico.
