About the Commission:

The NC Film Office is an agency of the State of North Carolina, working within the Division of Tourism, Film and Sports Development based in Raleigh. Established in 1980, the Film Office assists filmmakers with tailor-made electronic location packages via Reel-Scout, preliminary scouting assistance, and serves as a liaison to state agencies such as the Department of Transportation, state parks, etc. It works in partnership with film office affiliates across the state.

Incentive Programs:

On August 8, 2006, Gov. Mike Easley signed into law legislation that provides for a full 15% tax credit on productions $250,000 and over, and not exceeding  
a credit per-project of $7.5 million. Also, filmmakers pay only 1% Sales & Use Tax on all production-related items purchased.
